The fifth International Yoga day was observed all over the world on 21st June 2019. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India, thousands of years ago. The word YOGA derives from Sanskrit language and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various countries around the world and continuous to grow in popularity. The theme for 2019 celebration of Yoga Day, organized by the permanent mission of India to the United Nations is ‘CLIMATE ACTION’.

The keen students of our East point School participated in the Yoga awareness program conducted by the Indian Association Ajman.The Chief Guest for the occasion wasMr. Sanjeev Kumar, Chief for Council of Community affairs, Dubai and Al Ahmed AL Shahi Commander Ajman Police.
The Chief guest read the message from Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra modi, in which Prime Minister stated“ Diseases make a poor person poorer; I want to take yoga from cities to the villages, to the jungles, to the poor and adivasis(tribal)”, adding to that P.M said“ Yoga belongs to everyone and everyone belongs to Yoga”.
The Yoga sessions covered warm ups, Standing Asana like Trikonasana, Tadasana, ArdaChakrasana, Hastapadasana, Vrksana and Sitting Asana like Padmasana, Vakrasana, Shasangasan, Vajrasana, Ustrasana. Prone Asana like Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Supine Asana like Pawanamuktasana, Sethubandasanawere practiced. What followed was pranayama and meditation. All the participants performed at their best and at the end of the session all took pledge to be a Yoga Family.
YOGA AWARENESS PROGRAM IN SCHOOL 2019-20
The Students of East point school were given aYoga awareness programme by P.E Dept teachers Mr. Gafoor and Mrs. Saffura. The session covered the importance of the day, the message from the Prime minister, the various branches of Yoga.
After the introduction part, students were taught 3 breathing exercise like Anuloma – Viloma, Brahmari and Sitakari. This was followed by Standing Asanas like Vrksasana, Veerabadrasana, Trikonasana and Tadasana. And this was followed by Sitting Asana like Padmasana, Paschimottan asana, ArdhaUstrasana and Yoga mudrasana.
Later what followed was the Relaxing meditation, in which the students were completely focused. The whole session lasted for 40 Minutes. On this Yoga day a special promise was made by the students that they will practice Yoga regularly and teach their siblings, friends and family.
